HG11-Piesko goes undefeated takes home USSSA Great Lakes Shootout title

HG11-Piesko captured its 5th tournament title of the season the weekend of 4/15 going undefeated in the USSSA Great Lakes Shootout tournament in Farmington Hills.

In game #1 HG11-Piesko faced off with Southwest Oakland Warriors.  JR Morrow where he went 2.1 innings, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB and 3K's and collecting his 6th win of the season.  Braeden Chiles relieved JR from the mound going 1.2 innings allowing 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB and striking out 4 batters to end the game.  Morrow and Chiles held the opposition to 2 total hits in the game as HG11-Piesko took down SWOW 13-1 in 4 innings.  HG11-Piesko had 15 hits in the game Morrow, Bonemer, Johnson and Zilch all having 32 hits each.  Carson Raether had himself a game!  He went 3 for 3 from the plate with 2 triples and a double and catching 1 runner from the catching position.  

Game #2 was against LCB Legends where Gavin Nash started from the mound and went 2.2 innings allowing 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and 1 K.  Zilch entered the game in relief and went the final 2.1 innings where he allowed 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB and struck out 5 batters.  HG11-Piesko had 8 hits in the game.  Raether, Hiller, Bonemer, Johnson and Pennala each with a hit while Connor Rumohr had 2 hits in the game (including a double).  HG11-Piesko recorded its 2nd mercy win of the tournament with a 5 inning 9 - 1 win.

In game #3, HG11-Piesko put Braeden Chiles on the mound to start the game as he went 1 inning allowing  0 H, 1 BB, 0 ER and 1 K.  "Lefty" Ty Trahey relieved Chiles and went 2 innings 0H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's to end the game.  Chiles and Trahey provided a "No Hitter" in the 15 - 0, three (3) inning mercy over the Michigan Redsox.  Trahey, Morrow, Nash, Chiles and Pennala all with one hit each.  Raether, Bonemer and Rumohr all having 2 hits each to complete the 3 - 0 undefeated tournament effort.

 

In the three games the HG11-Piesko team outscored opponents 37 - 2 having 33 hits throughout the 3 game span.  16 of those hits were extra base hits, 6 triples and 1 Home Run (coming from Bonemer - his 3rd of the season.  The win over SWOW was the 4th win this season over a USSSA "Major" team.  The HG11-Piesko team advanced to a 23 - 2 record.
